Happy Birthday Jesus- 2012

This holiday we were blessed to stay at our friends house in Boulder.
Our dear friends the Dolenc family came for brunch... wish we could make that our new tradition. We love them and their kids SO much!
Then on with the fancy clothes for Christmas Eve service at Cornerstone Church.

Christmas morning and all was quiet with fresh snow fall on the ground.

Many fun presents!

 A little gorilla business!

There were 181 photos and this is such a small sample of a full day of good family time, food, playing and knowing how blessed we are.

Writing in Pencil... (In Memory)...

Life is precious... we all know that. But how do we honor that day in and day out?
Life becomes routine, mundane and just plain busy...
But then there are those life defining moments where we are reminded, sometimes all too vividly, once again how precious life is and being intentional with those you love most.
Yesterday was a run of the mill albeit ground hog kind of day here for me.
Then last night at about 6:45, it became life changing... all when a friend dropped off a toy I bought from her and said... "did you hear, Holly's husband (Dave) died this morning..." what? what? what? How many times did I say... what?
His car didn't start so he decided to run to work (he is a runner) and he collapsed and died!
What???????
I can in this moment, barely comprehend this... still.
He was 37. Healthy. Father of 3 young kids. Husband. Friend. Son. Follower of Jesus.
How how precious is life in the face of death.
Her Facebook page is flooded with prayers, and tears, and grief and love.
She is overcome with grief to say the least.
She has chosen to lean on GOD to carry her and her children through this unimaginable time.
Precious.
So as I handle my own grief for my friend. I can write this and ponder life's preciousness.
Writing in pencil is her blog. It has chronicled their challenging journey to adopt a child from Ethiopia.
It's title means so much more in this tragic moment...
Precious.
Cherish each day. Cherish this season. Always be willing to "write in pencil" because our Maker may change the story when you least expect it...
if you haven't met Him in a while I encourage you to begin your own dialogue with Jesus.
Because life is too precious not to.

Canaan's Half Birthday!!!

Let's pretend I posted this on May 30th...
Canaan you are 6 months old!! It's your half birthday!!
I decided to dress you up kind of fancy... my handsome boy!
You LOVE toys and people. You grab everything and put it to your mouth.
Those big eyes greet us every morning followed by your sweet smile.
You giggle, but not for just anything. You seem selective with those cute giggles.

Your newest thing is clicking your tongue on the roof of your mouth. You do this throughout the day!
It's funny to me.

 Long and lean!

You are stronger and stronger. We need to work on sitting up now;)

You just started noticing the few stuffed animals in your crib. They sit by your feet.
People continue to say you look like Mommy!!
We LOVE you SOOOOOO much.
Your brother and sister ADORE you!!!
HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY CANNAN CRUZ!!!!!!!!!!!
